This study aims to analyze the role of the Office of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection (DPPPA) of South Sumatera Province toward children with neurodevelopmental disabilities who are part of the Forum Keluarga Spesial (FORKESI) Palembang. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings show that DPPPA’s role is largely focused on empowering and strengthening the capacity of parents as the primary caregivers of children with disabilities. The support provided includes socialization on disability issues, parenting guidance, emotional management training, UMKM and tie-dye (jumputan) skill training, as well as assistance in handling cases of domestic violence. In addition, DPPPA facilitates access to therapy services, inclusive education, and legal assistance, although these forms of support are less intensive compared to the assistance directed toward parents. Overall, DPPPA’s role has had a positive impact on families of children with disabilities. However, broader services that address children’s direct needs, stronger coordination, and more sustainable programs are still required to optimize child protection efforts and fulfill the rights of children with neurodevelopmental disabilities.
